يا لابساً خِرقةَ التصوّفِ ما

يا لابساً خِرقةَ التصوّفِ ما

عليك فيما لبستَه حَرَجُ

عليك فيما لبستَه حَرَجُ

O you who wear the cloak of Sufism, there is no

O you who wear the garb of Sufism, do not

blame upon you for what you have worn,

Worry about what you have worn.

إن كنتَ من عُصبةٍ منزَّهة

إن كنتَ من عُصبةٍ منزَّهة

قد عرفوا ذاتُهم وما مرجوا

قد عرفوا ذاتُهم وما مرجوا

if you belong to a purified company

If you are of a purified group

who have known their own essence and have not fallen into confusion.

Who have known their essence and attained their goal-

قاموا على عفَّةٍ ومسغبة

قاموا على عفَّةٍ ومسغبة

تهلكُ حتى أتاهم الفرجُ

تهلكُ حتى أتاهم الفرجُ

They stood firm in chastity and severe hunger

They have risen with chastity and detachment,

that kills, until relief came to them.

Suffering until relief came to them.

تحصَّنوا بالعليِّ حين علوا

تحصَّنوا بالعليِّ حين علوا

وخصهم بالشهودِ إذ عَرَجوا

وخصهم بالشهودِ إذ عَرَجوا

They took refuge in the Most High when they rose,

They fortified themselves with the Most High when they ascended,

and He singled them out for witnessing when they ascended.

And He singled them out for witnessing when they climbed.

فانظر إلى حالهم وحليتهم

فانظر إلى حالهم وحليتهم

وحصنِ تقديسه الذي ولجوا

وحصنِ تقديسه الذي ولجوا

So look upon their state and their adornment,

So look to their state and their adornment,

and the fortress of declaring Him holy that they entered.

And the fortress of sanctity they entered.

وادخل من الموضع الذي دخلوا

وادخل من الموضع الذي دخلوا

تخرجْ بالحليةِ التي خرجوا

تخرجْ بالحليةِ التي خرجوا

And enter at the place where they entered;

And enter from the place they entered,

you will emerge with the adornment with which they emerged.

You will emerge with the adornment they emerged with.
