لاno ذنبَsin أعظمgreater منthan ذنبٍa sin يقاومُresists عفpardon (first part of عفو)
لا ذنبَ أعظم من ذنبٍ يقاومُ عف
وَfinal part of عفو (pardon) اللهGod الذيwhom يأتيهcomes to Him معتقداbelieving
وَ الله الذي يأتيه معتقدا
No sin is greater than a sin that resists the pardon
No sin is greater than the sin that confronts pardon,
of God, to whom one comes believing.
And Allah is He who comes to it believing so.
وكلُّand every ذنبٍsin بجنبِbeside العفوpardon محتقرٌinsignificant
وكلُّ ذنبٍ بجنبِ العفو محتقرٌ
عفوpardon الإلهof God ولاand not يخصصُHe singles out بهwith it أحداanyone
عفو الإله ولا يخصصُ به أحدا
And every sin beside pardon is insignificant—
Every sin is insignificant next to pardon,
God's pardon; and He does not reserve it for any one person.
God's pardon, and He specifies it for no one.
ورحمةُand the mercy اللهof God خلقcreation وهيand it قدhas وسعتencompassed
ورحمةُ الله خلق وهي قد وسعت
منwhoever أوجدbrought into being اللهGod منamong خلقٍcreatures وإنْand even if جحداhe denied
من أوجد الله من خلقٍ وإنْ جحدا
And God's mercy is creation, and it has encompassed
And the mercy of Allah is creation, and it has encompassed,
whoever God brought into being among creatures, even if he denies Him.
Whoever Allah brought into being from creatures, even if denying.
وكيفand how لاnot تسَعُencompass الأكوانُthe worlds رحمتهHis mercy
وكيف لا تسَعُ الأكوانُ رحمته
وهوand He الذيwho وسِعَencompassed الأكوانَthe worlds وانفرداand stood alone
وهو الذي وسِعَ الأكوانَ وانفردا
And how could His mercy not encompass the worlds,
And how can His mercy not encompass the universes,
when He is the One who encompassed the worlds and stood alone,
When He is the One who created the universes and was alone?
عنapart from الكيانِcreated existence بهin this فلمso did not يجدfind أحدٌanyone
عن الكيانِ به فلم يجد أحدٌ
منfrom دونother than خالقهhis Creator مولىa patron وملتحداand a refuge
من دون خالقه مولى وملتحدا
apart from created existence in this; so no one has found
Apart from existence through Him, so no one found,
a patron and a refuge other than his Creator.
Other than his Creator, a master and unified.
هوHe الوجودُExistence الذيwhom بالجودِthrough bounty تعرفهrecognize Him
هو الوجودُ الذي بالجودِ تعرفه
نفوسناour souls ولهذاand for this الأمرreason قدhas عبداbeen worshipped
نفوسنا ولهذا الأمر قد عبدا
He is Existence, whom, through bounty,
He is the existence who through His grace we recognize,
our souls recognize; and for this reason He has been worshipped.
Our souls, and for this matter we worshipped.
فلوso if عرضتwere presented علىto منone who كانwas يجهلهignorant of Him
فلو عرضت على من كان يجهله
عبادةthe worship اللهof God فيin الأشياءthings ماnot عبداhe worshipped
عبادة الله في الأشياء ما عبدا
So had there been presented to one who did not know Him
So if the worship of Allah in things was presented,
the worship of God in things, he would not have worshipped
To one who was ignorant of Him, he would not have worshipped.
كماas هوit الأمرthe matter لكنَّbut فيهin it ملحمةًa battle
كما هو الأمر لكنَّ فيه ملحمةً
بينamong العقولِintellects فكُنso be بالشرعِwith revealed law مُتحداunited
بين العقولِ فكُن بالشرعِ مُتحدا
as things are; yet within this lies a battle
As is the case, but in it there is an epic,
among intellects; so be united with revealed law.
Between intellects, so be with the Law unified.
قدhas أخبرdeclared اللهGod عنconcerning سلطانٍdominion رحمتهHis mercy
قد أخبر الله عن سلطانٍ رحمته
بأنهthat it مثلُis like علمِthe knowledge اللهof God واعتقداand believe
بأنه مثلُ علمِ الله واعتقدا
God has declared concerning the dominion of His mercy
Allah has informed of the sultan of His mercy,
that it is like God's knowledge; and believe.
That it is like Allah's knowledge, so believe.
