خلقيmy creation منfrom الماءwater والباقيand the rest لهto it تبعfollowers
خلقي من الماء والباقي له تبع
منof العناصرthe elements فاطلبنيso seek me علىupon الماءthe water
من العناصر فاطلبني على الماء
My creation is from water, and following it are the rest
I was created from water, the rest belongs to Him
of the elements; so seek me upon the water.
Of the elements, so seek me through water
والماءُand water ليسis not لهfor it حدٌّa limit يحيطencompasses بهaround it
والماءُ ليس له حدٌّ يحيط به
كذاlikewise أناI فيin وجوديmy existence عندin relation to أسمائيmy names
كذا أنا في وجودي عند أسمائي
And water has no limit that encompasses it.
And water has no boundary enclosing it
Likewise am I in my existence, in relation to my names.
Just as I have no limit in my existence or my names
للهto God belong فيin الماءwater أوصافٌattributes منوَّعةٌvaried
لله في الماء أوصافٌ منوَّعةٌ
تغنيsuffice مشاهدهاtheir manifestations عنin place of حكمِthe force of إيماءِan allusion
تغني مشاهدها عن حكمِ إيماءِ
God has varied attributes in water.
God has manifold attributes in water
Their manifestations make the force of allusion unnecessary.
Whose beholding suffices without gesture or words
قدindeed جاءhas come فيconcerning خلقهits creation ماwhat قالhe said منfrom عرقsweat
قد جاء في خلقه ما قال من عرق
تكفيsuffices الإشارةthe allusion عنin place of تصريحexplicit expression إنباءِreporting
تكفي الإشارة عن تصريح إنباءِ
Of its creation, what he said has come down: from sweat.
In His creation is what His Word has spoken
An allusion suffices in place of an explicit report.
A hint suffices without explicit explanation
