إنَّ الخليلَ إذا أراك مقاما

إنَّ الخليلَ إذا أراك مقاما

شاهدتَ منه اللوحَ والأقلاما

شاهدتَ منه اللوحَ والأقلاما

Indeed, when the Intimate Friend shows you a station,

When you see Khalil in his place,

you behold from him the Tablet and the pens.

You see from him the tablet and the pens,

فترى المعارفَ بالكتابةِ تنجلي

فترى المعارفَ بالكتابةِ تنجلي

لعيونِ أهلِ كشوفِه أعلاما

لعيونِ أهلِ كشوفِه أعلاما

So you see spiritual knowledge made clear through writing,

So you see knowledge being clarified through writing

as signs to the eyes of the people of his unveilings.

For the eyes of the people of his revelations as signs,

ويكون ذاك الكشفُ من إعطائه

ويكون ذاك الكشفُ من إعطائه

ما ينبغي أعلامه أعلاما

ما ينبغي أعلامه أعلاما

And that unveiling comes from his bestowal—

And that revelation from his giving,

a disclosure of what ought to be made known.

Is what his signs should be as great signs,

ويزيدني علمي به من عنده

ويزيدني علمي به من عنده

صدقاً لما قد قاله إعظاما

صدقاً لما قد قاله إعظاما

And my knowledge of him, received from him, increases in me

And my knowledge from him increases for me from him

reverence, in confirmation of what he has said.

Truly, respecting what he has said with greatness.
