Indeed, I have seen a being I do not know.

And how can I know one whom, through knowledge, I do not know?

Were it not for existence, which he directs from us

therein, no heart would have divided him

into existence, into essence, into an attribute,

into qualities of his that came to speak to him.

Indeed, souls imagine him through fancies,

and through conjecture no soul grasps him.

When my knowledge differentiates him, he is delimited

by my conjecture, which sums up whatever admits differentiation.

Then beauty belongs to whoever loves the Beautiful through it,

and his self-adornment has made him known to people.

So a youth bears the burden for the weary,

knowing that the Real's expansiveness bears him.

Your brother, O daughter of Imran, is like you in

caring for the Chosen One; and God cares for him.

    لذاك فاز بما منه يؤمله

    He has degrees above you, as has already been conveyed to us;

thus he has attained what he hopes for from him.

Deliberately he sees him when the cosmos separates him

from God; you see the All-Merciful bring him into union.

And that is a supreme station, marked out

for him by his dwelling in nearness to God.

When you see a lowly servant in disobedience

to God, the generosity of God, the Real, grants him respite.

And nothing neglects him except his care

for him; so he grants him respite, and does not neglect him.

    And that is a station conveyed by books;

he would not have enjoyed it but for his descent.
