If you behold existence as an image,

you act freely within it, to right and left.

So through knowledge you bring it down as a broad, fertile land,

and make it rise as a full moon, though it had been a crescent.

And you raise it upon the head as an adorned crown,

though it had been sandals at Time's foot.

And through it you possess the worlds, east and west,

and what lies between them, south and north.

And how often we have seen in it a real imperfection,

yet when we came to it, you saw perfection.

And how often I have asked God for an answer concerning it,

and how often I have answered God concerning it with a question.

My sun has indeed risen upon it, and at that moment

I stretched out shadows for it throughout the worlds.
