If things come forth from the command,

those of lowly origin and those of noble stock are equal.

They certainly struck him, convinced that

if they struck him, he would not rise from the cold.

So he made him speak to the people, then returned him

to his former state, until the break of dawn.

Just as the pebbles glorified God in a master's palm,

and in the palms of his eminent companions, like radiant stars.

Thus the signs were nothing but their hearing,

and this that has come is a kind of prose.

And each has a state and an appointed time:

a state toward unveiling, and a time toward veiling.

So one from Syria sees him represented,

while one from Egypt beholds him alive.

And one like me came as a stranger, affirming,

saying what the two had said: there is nothing objectionable in it.

So whoever wishes, let him disbelieve; and whoever wishes, let him say

that I have true certainty concerning the matter,

because of the strength of my faith in what my Creator said,

and my truthfulness, which God has established in my breast.
