إذا سدَّسَ الذاتَ النزيهةَ عارفٌ

إذا سدَّسَ الذاتَ النزيهةَ عارفٌ

وأدرجَ في بدرِ التمامِ ذُكاء

وأدرجَ في بدرِ التمامِ ذُكاء

If a knower makes the pure Essence sixfold,

When a virtuous soul is enlightened by a knower,

and enfolds Dhukāʾ, the sun, within the full moon,

And endowed with perfect intelligence,

وألحقَ أرواحَ العُلى بنفوسِها

وألحقَ أرواحَ العُلى بنفوسِها

وأعطاك من نور السَّناء ضياء

وأعطاك من نور السَّناء ضياء

and joins the spirits of the heights to their souls,

And the spirits on high are joined to their souls,

and gives you radiance from the light of splendor,

And you are given some gleams from the light of glory,

وأحكم أشياءَ وأرسلَ حكمةً

وأحكم أشياءَ وأرسلَ حكمةً

وصيرَّ أعمالَ الكيانِ هَباء

وصيرَّ أعمالَ الكيانِ هَباء

and perfects things and sends forth wisdom,

And all things are set right and wisdom is instilled,

and turns the works of existence to dust—

And the labors of existence turn to nothingness,

فذاك الذي يجري إلى غير غاية

فذاك الذي يجري إلى غير غاية

ويطلع أقمارَ الشهودِ عشاء

ويطلع أقمارَ الشهودِ عشاء

then that is the one who runs on without end,

That One flows to a goal beyond goals

and makes the moons of witnessing rise at nightfall;

And brings forth the stars of witnessing at nightfall;

وتبصره يعطي صباحاً حياتَه

وتبصره يعطي صباحاً حياتَه

ويقبضها جوداً عليك مساء

ويقبضها جوداً عليك مساء

and you see him giving his life in the morning,

You see Him sacrificing His life for you at dawn

and he takes it back in the evening, out of generosity toward you.

And taking it back in His generosity at dusk.
