I was singled out for knowledge whose like was granted to none

but me, by the All-Merciful, possessor of the Throne and the Seat.

And I was made to witness wonders of knowledge of the unseen,

safeguarded from mention in the realm of the senses.

So how wondrous! I go forth in the evening and the morning,

a stranger, alone in existence, with none of my kind.

The peoples have indeed rejected my words and denounced

me for knowledge for which I do not blame myself.

So they are not with the living in the light of what I see,

nor with the dead in the darkness of the grave.

So glory be to Him who brought the heart to life with His light,

and deprived them of the light of guidance through effacement.

Our branches of knowledge have spread through the realm of being,

from the farthest West to the rising-place of the sun.

With them was adorned whoever was an intellect stripped

of thought, conjecture, illusion, and intuition.

And in a white one, pure like me, they became

a guide, though people are indeed confused about them.
