سمعتُ الخلقَ ليس لهم وجودُ

سمعتُ الخلقَ ليس لهم وجودُ

وفي ظني الوجود لهم حقيقهْ

وفي ظني الوجود لهم حقيقهْ

I heard that created beings have no existence.

I heard that creatures have no existence,

And in my view, existence is real for them.

Yet I believe that existence for them is real.

فلما أن شهدتْ الأمر منه

فلما أن شهدتْ الأمر منه

رأيت الخلق ظاهره خليقه

رأيت الخلق ظاهره خليقه

Then, when I witnessed the matter from Him,

When I witnessed the matter from Him,

I saw creation as His outward, created form.

I saw that the appearance of creatures is created.

فظاهرهم وباطنهم سواء

فظاهرهم وباطنهم سواء

وهذا من معانيه الدقيقه

وهذا من معانيه الدقيقه

Thus their outward and inward aspects are alike,

So their outer and inner selves are equal,

And this is among His subtle meanings.

And this is one of its subtle meanings.

رقائقه من الأعيان مدّت

رقائقه من الأعيان مدّت

وفي تلك الرقائقِ لي رقيقه

وفي تلك الرقائقِ لي رقيقه

His subtle links were extended from the entities,

Subtleties from entities extended,

And among those subtle links, I have a link.

And in those subtleties I have something subtle.

علمت بها بأني غيرُ شيء

علمت بها بأني غيرُ شيء

وإن كانت تخالفني السليقه

وإن كانت تخالفني السليقه

Through it I learned that I am nothing,

I knew through it that I am nothing,

Though my innate disposition contradicted me.

Even if my nature opposes me.

وقد كتبتَ عليَّ بذا كتاباً

وقد كتبتَ عليَّ بذا كتاباً

وشرح الأمر في تلك الوثيقه

وشرح الأمر في تلك الوثيقه

And You have written a decree against me to this effect,

And you have written for me in this book,

And the explanation of the matter is in that document.

And explained the matter in that document.

لقد لله في كوني أمور

لقد لله في كوني أمور

يُربك بها المطرِّق للطريقه

يُربك بها المطرِّق للطريقه

Indeed, God has workings within my being,

God truly has in my existence matters,

With them He bewilders the trailblazer of the Way—

That confuse the one heading towards the path.

أموراً أبطن الرحمن فيها

أموراً أبطن الرحمن فيها

عجائبَ مكره الغرّ الأنيقة

عجائبَ مكره الغرّ الأنيقة

Matters in which the All-Merciful has concealed

Matters that the Most Merciful has concealed,

The radiant, exquisite wonders of His guile.

Wondrous intrigues of the elegant deceiver.

لها غَور بعيد ليس يدري

لها غَور بعيد ليس يدري

لذا قال اللبيبُ هي الفليقه

لذا قال اللبيبُ هي الفليقه

They have a far-reaching depth that no one knows;

It has a far, deep ravine that none knows,

Thus the discerning one said, 'It is the great calamity.'

So the wise one said: It is the elite.
