عمَّHe encompassed بالغفرانِwith forgiveness أصحابَbearers of الذنوبِsins
عمَّ بالغفرانِ أصحابَ الذنوبِ
بعدafter أخذٍchastisement وابتداءٍand from the outset للعمومْfor all
بعد أخذٍ وابتداءٍ للعمومْ
He encompassed sinners with forgiveness,
He forgives the sins of all
After chastisement, and from the outset, for all.
After punishment and then amnesty
غيرexcept أنَّthat الأمرthe matter قدindeed قسمهHe divided it
غير أنَّ الأمر قد قسمه
بينbetween سكنيdwelling فيin جنانٍgardens وجحيمْand Hell
بين سكني في جنانٍ وجحيمْ
Yet He has divided the matter
Yet He divided the matter
Between dwelling in gardens and in Hell.
Between dwelling in Heaven and Hell
وكلاand both الصنفينthe two groups فيin رحمتهHis mercy
وكلا الصنفين في رحمته
فيin التذاذٍdelight دائمeverlasting فيهin it مقيمabiding
في التذاذٍ دائم فيه مقيم
And both groups are within His mercy,
And both types are under His mercy
In everlasting delight, abiding therein.
Enjoying eternal bliss there
زمهريرٌbitter cold عندfor محرورِone afflicted by heat جديa boon
زمهريرٌ عند محرورِ جدي
وحرورٍand scorching heat عندfor مقرورٍone afflicted by cold نعيمbliss
وحرورٍ عند مقرورٍ نعيم
Bitter cold is a boon to one afflicted by heat,
The laughter of the freed slaves
And scorching heat is bliss to one afflicted by cold,
And the sorrow of the wretched in bounty
ليكونso that … may be الكلُّall فيin رحمتِهHis mercy
ليكون الكلُّ في رحمتِه
إنهindeed He قالsaid هوHe البرُّthe Beneficent الرحيمthe Merciful
إنه قال هو البرُّ الرحيم
So that all may be within His mercy.
So all exist under His mercy
Indeed, He said: He is the Beneficent, the Merciful.
He said He is the Kind, Merciful
