قد طهر الله الإمام الرضى

قد طهر الله الإمام الرضى

من كلِّ سوء يقتضيه الأذى

من كلِّ سوء يقتضيه الأذى

God has purified Imam al-Riḍā

God has purified Imam al-Radhi

of every evil that harm entails.

From all evil that harm implies

فإنه سبحانه قد قضى

فإنه سبحانه قد قضى

أن لا يكون الأمر إلا كذا

أن لا يكون الأمر إلا كذا

For He—glory be to Him—has decreed

For He, glory to Him, has decreed

that the matter shall be only thus.

That things be not otherwise

ولم يؤاخذه بما قد مضى

ولم يؤاخذه بما قد مضى

إذا يتوب العبد عنه إذا

إذا يتوب العبد عنه إذا

And He did not hold him accountable for what had passed,

And did not take him to account for what is past

when the servant repents of it, then,

If a servant repents it when he does

وجاء بالفعل الذي يرتضي

وجاء بالفعل الذي يرتضي

ومثل هذا العبد لن ينبذا

ومثل هذا العبد لن ينبذا

and brings the deed He approves;

And comes with the deed he approves

and such a servant will not be cast aside.

And the likes of this servant will not be rejected

ووجهه من نورِه ما أضا

ووجهه من نورِه ما أضا

لأنه حذوَ الإله حذا

لأنه حذوَ الإله حذا

And his face is what shone forth from His light,

His face was illuminated by its light when it shone

because he followed God's example.

For he followed God step by step

ليس تراه عينُ من غمضا

ليس تراه عينُ من غمضا

عينا إذا أنزله بالحذا

عينا إذا أنزله بالحذا

He is not seen by the eye of one who has closed

You do not see him, eye of one who shut it

an eye when He sets him face-to-face.

An eye, when He sent him to openly proclaim

فأشبهت صورته فالقضا

فأشبهت صورته فالقضا

مطلوبه فلم يكن غير ذا

مطلوبه فلم يكن غير ذا

So his form resembled His; thus the decree

So his image resembled the final judgment

was his aim, and it was nothing other than this.

What he sought, so he was none other than this
