ما لي من العلم إلا ما نطقت به

وهو الصحيح لا شرع ينكرهُ

I have no knowledge except what I have spoken of.

And it is sound; no revealed law denies it.

يقول من ليس يدريه استسرّ به

وكيف أستره والحق يظهره

One who does not know it says, "Keep it secret."

And how can I conceal it when the Real reveals it?

الله ما زال للأسماع يسمعه

بما يقرِّره شرعاً ويذكره

God has always made it audible to the ears,

Through what He establishes as law and mentions.

وليس شخصٌ من أهل العلم ينكره

إلا تراه لدى الإنصاف يضمره

And no one among the learned denies it

But you find him, when fair-minded, harboring it within.

الفكر ينفيه والإيمانُ يثبته

وكم شخيص قد أراد تفكره

Thought denies it, while faith affirms it.

And many a person has sought to contemplate it.

إنَّ السعادةَ بالإيمانِ قد قُرنت

والسعدُ يسعدُ ما وهمي يصورِّه

Indeed, felicity has been joined to faith,

And good fortune blesses what my imagination depicts.

والله أقربُ من حبلِ الوريدِ وما

تراه حساً ولا الأعيانُ تبصره

And God is nearer than the jugular vein, yet

You do not see Him through sense, nor do eyes behold Him.

يكفيك منه الذي الرحمن صورَّه

في شرعه فكفور من يكفره

Enough for you of Him is what the All-Merciful has portrayed

In His revealed law; whoever denies it is an unbeliever.

النص عزَّ لأنَّ الله ذو كرمٍ

بخلقه فلهذا لا يصدِّره

An explicit statement is rare, for God is generous

To His creation; that is why He does not issue it.

لو جاء بالنصِّ لم يقبله ذو نظرِ

إلا بإيمانه لذاك يستره

Were He to bring an explicit statement, no thinker would accept it

Except through his faith; that is why He conceals it.
