Sol 6.1

  1. سرُّ سرِّ الوجودِ فردٌ بعيدٌ

    عن نظيرٍ له بدارِ أمانِ

    The secret of the secret of existence is singular, far removed

    from any counterpart to it, in an abode of safety.

  2. هو علم في أول الحالِ عار

    وكذا كان في الوجود الثاني

    It is bare knowledge in the first state,

    and so it was in the second existence.

  3. فانظر ذا في الكيان سرّ علاه

    ثم تنقيصه بآي المثاني

    So consider this in being: the secret of its loftiness,

    then its diminution through the verses of the Oft-Repeated.

  4. يطلب الرشد والرشادُ سناه

    وهو أصل للكائنات الحسانِ

    It seeks right guidance, and guidance is its radiance,

    and it is the source of beautiful beings.

  5. وإنَّ هذا لهو العُجابُ فمهد

    عقلك القاضي لانقلابِ العيانِ

    And this is indeed a marvel; so prepare

    your judging intellect for the reversal of what is seen.

  6. ولو توالى أصلُ الوجودِ على ما

    كان في الأصل ما التقى زوجان

    And had the source of existence continued as it

    was at the outset, no two mates would have met.

  7. ثم لما شاء الحكيمُ أموراً

    أيّدتْها حقائقُ البُرهان

    Then, when the Wise One willed things

    that the truths of demonstration upheld,

  8. أظهر الضدَّ والنظير جميعاً

    بالعلى والثرى فلاحَ إثنان

    He manifested the opposite and the counterpart together,

    in the heights and the dust; thus two appeared.

  9. فأمدَّ العلوُّ للسّفلِ سِرَاً

    وكذا السفلُ للعلوِّ الداني

    So the high supplied the low with a secret,

    and likewise the low to the high that is near.

  10. حكمة شاءها الحكيم فأبدتْ

    كل سرٍّ بواضحات البيانِ

    A wisdom the Wise One willed—and so it revealed

    every secret through clear exposition.

  11. فاشكر الله يا أخيّ على ما

    أودعته حقيقة الإنسان

    So thank God, my dear brother, for what

    the reality of the human being has entrusted.
