1. كلُّ بيتٍ محتَّم

    فيه سرٌّ مكتمُ

    Every house is foreordained;

    Within it lies a concealed secret.

  2. ليس يدري به سوى

    من به الكون يعظمُ

    None knows of it except

    The one through whom the cosmos grows great.

  3. هو علمٌ عَنَتْ له

    أعرُبٌ ثم أعجمُ

    It is knowledge before which have bowed

    Arabs, then non-Arabs.

  4. كلُّ مَلِكٍ متوَّجٌ

    يدري بالأمر يخدمُ

    Every king is crowned;

    He knows the matter and serves.

  5. وبه الله يفصلُ

    وبه العدلُ يحكمُ

    And through it God decides,

    And through it justice judges,

  6. بقضاءٍ محقَق

    ليس فيه توهُّمُ

    With a definitive judgment

    In which there is no conjecture.

  7. كعبة الله بيتُ من

    جاءَ بالحقِّ يحرم

    God's Kaaba is the house of one

    Who comes with truth and enters ritual consecration,

  8. ويلبي الذي دعا

    ه لها حين يقدم

    And answers the one who summoned

    Him to it, when he arrives.

  9. وفؤادي حرامه

    وهو بيتٌ محرَّم

    And my heart is his sanctuary,

    And it is an inviolable house.

  10. اغلق البابَ دون من

    جاءَه وهو مُحرم

    He closed the door against whoever

    Came to him in ritual consecration.

  11. يجد الناسَ بابه

    وهو بالسدِّ مُحكم

    People find his door

    Firmly secured by a barrier.

  12. وهو مِن خلفِ بابه

    ناظرٌ ليس يعلم

    And he, from behind his door,

    Watches, yet remains unknown.
