هكذا جاء المثل

The sword outstripped reproach.

Thus runs the proverb.

ليس للقولِ بدلْ

قوله عزَّ وجل

There is no substitute for the word—

His word, mighty and majestic is He.

ما يقول غير ما

وهبَ الله المحل

وهبَ الله المحل

He says nothing other than what

the locus has bestowed upon God.

فيه يُقضى له

فيه يُقضى له

وعليه المتكل

وعليه المتكل

Within it, judgment is passed for it,

and upon it reliance rests.

وبنا يعلمنا

وبنا يعلمنا

في غياباتِ الأزل

في غياباتِ الأزل

And through us He knows us

in the hidden depths of beginningless eternity.

وكذا أخبرنا

وكذا أخبرنا

في الهدى حين نزل

في الهدى حين نزل

And thus He informed us

in the Guidance when it descended.

فالذي يفهمه

فالذي يفهمه

يدر قولي ويجل

يدر قولي ويجل

So whoever understands it

will understand my words and hold them in esteem.
