هب النسيمٍ مع الإمساء والغلَسِ
بعُرفwith the fragrance of روضthe garden of النُّهىunderstanding منfrom حضرةthe presence of القدسِholiness
بعُرف روض النُّهى من حضرة القدسِ
The breeze blew at nightfall and in the predawn darkness,
with the fragrance of understanding’s garden, from the Holy Presence.
فشمّso smell بريقاًa gleam بأفقِon the horizon of البَينseparation لاحshone لناfor us
فشمّ بريقاً بأفقِ البَين لاح لنا
يدلّindicates أنَّthat عيونَsprings of الماءِwater فيin البلسthe fig trees
يدلّ أنَّ عيونَ الماءِ في البلس
So smell a gleam that shone for us on separation’s horizon,
showing that springs of water lie within the fig trees.
ألمdid … not? ترواyou all see لكليمِto the interlocutor of اللهِGod كيفhow بداappeared
ألم تروا لكليمِ اللهِ كيف بدا
لهto him الخطابُthe address منfrom الأشجارthe trees فيwithin القبسthe firebrand
له الخطابُ من الأشجار في القبس
Have you not seen how there appeared to God’s interlocutor
the address from the trees within the firebrand?
