لا ينيبُ الفؤادُ إلا إذا ما

لا ينيبُ الفؤادُ إلا إذا ما

لم يشاهد بذكره ما سواه

لم يشاهد بذكره ما سواه

The heart is worn away only when

The heart turns back in repentance only when

through remembering Him, it beholds nothing other than Him;

in remembering him, it beholds nothing besides him.

فإذا شاهد العجائب فيه

فإذا شاهد العجائب فيه

لم يكن ذا إنابة في هواه

لم يكن ذا إنابة في هواه

then, when it beholds the wonders in Him,

So if it beholds wonders in him,

it has no penitential turning to make within its love for Him.

it is not repentant in its love.
