    Indeed, the tongue is the heart’s messenger to humankind,

    bearing the pearls the All-Merciful has placed within it.

    So it dons truth at times, with caution,

    and dons falsehood at times, at peril.

    لا يعقلُ الحكمَ فيه غيرُ مُعتبر

    Each is a mountain with a flame upon its summit;

    none but one who takes heed grasps the judgment within it.

    And look at a truthful man whose watering places are pure,

    and a liar, journeying evening and morning,

    despite their oneness—and asking ‘how’ is ignorance

    on the part of one asking, ‘How does the Real judge humankind?’
