And were it not for a thing’s limits, its identity would not be distinct.

And were it not for my limits, I would not have known my limits.

لقد عشتُ أيّاماً بغير منازعٍ

لقد عشتُ أيّاماً بغير منازعٍ

ولم أك محسوداً لغير حسود

ولم أك محسوداً لغير حسود

Indeed, I lived for days without a rival,

And I was envied by none but the envious.
