Behold, I am a servant to the one whose lord I am.

The report has decreed what I have said concerning love.

Since the essence of the Real was my essence and my witness,

Creation and command in the world are ours.

So whoever is like us in the Real recognizes me,

And whoever is not—denial rushes into his heart.

So whoever is deeply learned in what I have brought him,

Will have abundant bounty from his lord.

And whoever declares it possible, indeed he

Will have shackles and rancor from his own self.

And whoever declares it impossible, indeed he

Is the wrongdoer, the veiled one, and the ignorant simpleton.

God has indeed stamped hearts with a seal

Of nature, so that pride may not enter them.

And how can pride dwell in the heart of one powerless,

Lowly, with helplessness and poverty arising from his own being?

    So glory to Him who gave the heart life through understanding of Him;

So neither hardship nor ease will veil it from Him.

You appeared to me from behind the veil of my nature,

And my soul already knew whom the veil conceals.

So the rider on the sea of nature is a seeker through his state,

And from his state, patience and gratitude seek him out.

And whoever travels across toilsome land—

The learned knower seeks refuge from its hardships.
