To God belongs whatever dwells within us,

and whatever hides itself and lies concealed.

    For He—glory be to Him—

is an excellent refuge for our heart.

So do not say, 'What does He have?'

For the heart is but a dwelling.

And do not be like the one

who went to extremes through ignorance and was tested—

the extremism of the Rafidites concerning

the matter of al-Husayn and al-Hasan.

    Thanks be to God, who

made me hear every good thing.

In every glad tiding He said to me:

    You are a servant entrusted

with what you have been given

of every secret in the traditions.

So say, as did the one

through whose words one has found safety:

    Praise be to God, who

has removed sorrow from my heart.
