    Solace departed, and patience departed, when they departed.

    They departed, though they dwell in the heart's innermost core.

    I asked them about the caravan's noonday resting place; we were told:

    Their noonday resting place is where wormwood and moringa trees gave off fragrance.

    فَإِنَّهُم عِندَ ظِلِّ الأَيكِ قُطّانُ

    So I said to the wind: Go, and catch up with them,

    For they dwell in the shade of the thicket;

    And convey to them greetings from a brother of sorrow,

    In whose heart lie sorrows from parting with the company.
