رَضيتُI am content بِرَضوىwith Radwa رَوضَةًa meadow وَمُناخاand a resting place
فَإِنَّfor indeed بِهِin it مَرعىًpasture وَفيهِand in it نُفاخاsoft soil
I am content with Radwa as a meadow and a resting place.
I was content with the gardens' satisfaction as a dwelling and halt
For it has pasture and soft soil.
For in it there is pasture, and in it a resting place
عَسىmay أَهلُthe people of وُدّيmy love يَسمَعونَthey hear بِخِصبِهِof its fertility
فَيَتَّخِذوهُso they may take it مَربَعاًa spring encampment وَمُناخاand a resting place
May those I love hear of its fertility,
Maybe the people of my love will hear of its fertility
And take it as a spring encampment and a resting place.
And take it as a square and a halt
فَإِنَّfor indeed لَناwe have قَلباًa heart بِهِنَّto them مُعَلَّقاًattached
إِذاwhenever ماan emphatic particle حَداchants الحاديthe camel-driver بِهِنَّfor them أَصاخاit listens intently
For we have a heart attached to them;
For we have a heart attached to them
Whenever the camel-driver chants for them, it listens intently.
When the announcer calls to them, shouting
وَإِنand if هُمthey تَنادَواcall to one another لِلَّرَحيلِfor departure وَفَوَّزواand enter the wilderness
سَمِعتَyou hear لَهُfrom it خَلفَbehind الرِكابِthe riding-camels صُراخاcries
And if they call to one another to depart and enter the wilderness,
And if they call each other to depart and hasten
You hear its cries behind the riding-camels.
You would hear behind the riders a cry
فَإِنfor if قَصَدواthey make for الزَوراءَal-Zawra كانَit is أَمامَهُمahead of them
وَإِنand if يَمَّمواthey head toward الجَرعاءَal-Jar‘a ثُمَّthen أَناخاit halts to rest
For if they make for al-Zawra, it is ahead of them;
So if they head for Al-Zawra, their way is ahead of them
And if they head toward al-Jar‘a, then it halts to rest.
And if they intend Al-Jarfa, then a halt
فَماfor ... not الطَيرُthe bird إِلّاexcept حَيثُwhere كانواthey are وَخَيَّمواand pitch camp
فَإِنَّfor indeed لَهُit has فيin حَيِّهِنَّtheir encampment فِراخاchicks
For the bird is only where they are and pitch camp,
The birds are only where they camped and settled
For it has chicks in their encampment.
For it has in their neighborhood fledglings
تَحارَبَfought each other خَوفٌa fear ليfor me وَخَوفٌand a fear مِنfor أَجلِهاher sake
وَماand ... not واحِدٌeither one عَنfrom قِرنِهِits opponent يَتَراخاdraws back
Fear for myself and fear for her fought each other,
Fear for me battles fear for their sake
And neither gives ground before its opponent.
And neither retreats from its mate
إِذاwhen خَطَفَتsnatch away أَبصارَناour sight سُبُحاتُهاher splendors
أَصَمَّdeafens لَهاfor her صَوتُthe sound of الشَهيقِsobbing صِماخاan ear canal
When her splendors snatch away our sight,
When their necklaces snatch our sights
The sound of sobbing for her deafens the ear.
The sound of panting is deafened to their sake
