وحقِّand by the truth of الهوىlove إنَّindeed الهوىlove سببُthe cause of الهوىlove
وحقِّ الهوى إنَّ الهوى سببُ الهوى
ولولاand were it not for الهوىlove فيin القلبthe heart ماnot عُبدwas worshipped الهوىlove
ولولا الهوى في القلب ما عُبد الهوى
And by love's truth, love is indeed the cause of love.
Where have you come from, oh object of desire
And were it not for love in the heart, love would not be worshipped.
Had you not entered my heart, you would not be worshipped
