وأمَّا أصول الحكم فهي ثلاثة

كتابُ وإجماعٌ وسنَّةُ مُصطفى

And as for the foundations of legal judgment, they are three:

The principles of law are three:

The Book, consensus, and Mustafa's tradition.

The Book, the Consensus, and the Sunna of Mustafa.

ورابعها منَّا قياسٌ محققّ

وفيه خلافٌ بينهم مرَّ وانقضى

وفيه خلافٌ بينهم مرَّ وانقضى

And their fourth, from us, is soundly established analogical reasoning;

The fourth that we have is verified analogy,

And disagreement over it among them passed and came to an end.

Though over it dispute arose time and again.
