إن الجبالَ وإنْ أصبحن جامدةً

إن الجبالَ وإنْ أصبحن جامدةً

فإنها عند أهل الكشفِ كالصُّوفِ

فإنها عند أهل الكشفِ كالصُّوفِ

Indeed, the mountains, though they have become solid,

Are, to the people of unveiling, like wool;

أو كالبيته أجزاء مفرقة

أو كالبيته أجزاء مفرقة

في كلِّ وجهٍ عن التحقيقِ مصروفِ

في كلِّ وجهٍ عن التحقيقِ مصروفِ

Or like the [unclear term], in scattered parts,

In every direction, turned away from true realization.

كما أتتْ في كتابِ الله صورتُه

كما أتتْ في كتابِ الله صورتُه

وزناً صحيحاً لنا من غير تطفيف

وزناً صحيحاً لنا من غير تطفيف

Just as its form has appeared in the Book of God:

An accurate weighing for us, without short measure.

ينزه الأمر عن وضعٍ وعن صفةٍ

ينزه الأمر عن وضعٍ وعن صفةٍ

وعن مثالٍ وعن كمٍ وتكييف

وعن مثالٍ وعن كمٍ وتكييف

The matter is declared free from position and attribute,

And from likeness, quantity, and specification of modality.

أما الذي ثقلتْ منا موازِنه

أما الذي ثقلتْ منا موازِنه

بالخير في منزلٍ بالبرِّ معروف

بالخير في منزلٍ بالبرِّ معروف

As for the one among us whose scales have grown heavy

With goodness—he is in a dwelling known for righteousness.

وثم هذا الذي خفَّت موازِنُه

وثم هذا الذي خفَّت موازِنُه

بالشرِّ في منزل بالدَّخ مسقوف

بالشرِّ في منزل بالدَّخ مسقوف

And there is this one whose scales have grown light

With evil, in a dwelling roofed with smoke.

وثم وزنٌ صحيحٌ أنت صنجته

وثم وزنٌ صحيحٌ أنت صنجته

جاءتْ إليَّ به رسلٌ بتعريف

جاءتْ إليَّ به رسلٌ بتعريف

And there is an accurate weighing—you are its standard weight;

Messengers came to me with it, making it known.
