شديدٍkeen شديدِintense in البحثِthe search عنfor طرقthe paths of السواotherness; what is other than God
And its rulings are five, apparent to an observer
Its rulings are five, shining for the observer,
keen, relentless in searching for the paths of otherness.
Severe, severely searching the paths of passion.
فواحيهاso its obligatory ruling (uncertain reading) أنْthat لاnot يراكHe sees you ملاحظاًattending; observing
لكونto a being منamong الأكوانِcreated beings ماas long as دمتَyou remain تجتبىyou are chosen
Thus its obligatory ruling [uncertain reading] is that He not see you attending
Its recommendations are that you not see it noticing you,
to any being among created beings, so long as you are chosen.
For as long as you are of the universes that you shun.
ومندوبهاand its recommended practice أنْthat لاnot يراكHe sees you مُفارقاًdeparting
لوصفٍfrom an attribute إلهيdivine متىwhenever كنتyou were تحتبىsitting clasping your knees
And its recommended practice is that He not see you departing
Its obligations are that it not see you leaving
from a divine attribute whenever you sit clasping your knees.
A divine description, whenever you sought refuge in it.
ومكروههاand its discouraged practice أنْto تلحظyou regard الكونَcreation زاجراًrebuking
فتنزلand so you descend منfrom أعلىthe highest reaches of السماءthe sky إلىinto الهواthe air
And its discouraged practice is to regard creation reproachfully,
Its disliked aspects are that you see the universe forbidding,
and so descend from the sky’s highest reaches into the air.
So you descend from the highest heaven to the air.
ومحظورهاand its forbidden practice أنto تلحظyou regard الغيرthe other عاشقاًas a lover
فتخرجand so you depart منfrom نعمىthe bliss of الجِنانِthe Gardens إلىinto لظىLazā; blazing Hellfire
And its forbidden practice is to gaze upon the other as a lover,
Its prohibitions are that you see others in love
and so leave the bliss of the Gardens for Lazā, the Blaze.
So you exit from the blessings of gardens to torment.

And as for what the sacred law permits, remain steadfast
As for the lawful things of sacred law, then walk straight
in the purpose stated in the text, within the world of desire.
Upon the explicit purpose in the world of passion.
