وَغادِرَةٍand a treacherous woman قَدindeed غادَرَتshe betrayed بِغَدائِرٍwith tresses
شَبيهِlike الأَفاعيthe vipers مَنwhoever أَرادَsought سَبيلاa path
And a treacherous woman has betrayed, with tresses
like vipers, whoever sought passage
سَليماًunharmed وَتَلويand she twists لينَهاher suppleness فُتُذيبُهُso she melts him
وَتَترُكُهُand she leaves him فَوقَupon الفِراشِthe bed عَليلاailing
unharmed; she twists her supple form and melts him,
and leaves him ailing upon the bed.
رَمَتshe shot بِسِهامِwith arrows of اللَحظِthe glance قَوسَa bow of حاجِبٍan eyebrow
فَمِنso from أَيِّwhichever شَقٍّside جِئتَyou came كُنتَyou were قَتيلاslain
She shot arrows of her glance from an eyebrow’s bow;
so from whichever side you came, you were slain.
