Then he kissed me lovingly, and so my desire was fulfilled.

He kissed me affectionately, fulfilling my wish

له زينةُ الأسماءِ أسماءِ خالقي

له زينةُ الأسماءِ أسماءِ خالقي

عليه من الأثوابِ ثوبُ حداد

عليه من الأثوابِ ثوبُ حداد

He is adorned with the names—the names of my Creator.

He has the beauty of names, the names of my Creator

Among his garments, he wears a robe of mourning,

He wears clothes of mourning

من أجل الذي قد بات فيه مهيماً

من أجل الذي قد بات فيه مهيماً

ضَحوكاً للقياه صحيح وداد

ضَحوكاً للقياه صحيح وداد

For the sake of the one who has spent the night enraptured by him,

For the one who became enchanted

Ever smiling at meeting him, true in love.

Laughing to meet him with true affection

تراه مع الأنفاس يتلو كتابه

بعبرة محزونٍ حليفِ سهاد

You see him reciting his book with every breath,

You can see him reciting his book with every breath

With a sorrowful one's tear, a companion to sleeplessness.

With the tears of a grieving confidant of wakefulness

يقوم بأمرِ الله إذ قال قم به

يقوم بأمرِ الله إذ قال قم به

بطاعةِ مهديٍّ وسنة هادي

بطاعةِ مهديٍّ وسنة هادي

He acts upon God's command, when He said, 'Act upon it,'

He carries out God's command when He said, "Arise with it"

Through obedience to one rightly guided and the practice of a guide.
