A body without a spirit is death’s bedfellow.

A withered branch—oh, if only it would put forth leaves!

A spirit without knowledge—its house has grown weak,

From seeing others, when it grew worn.

All stood in need of His bounty:

The people of falsehood and whoever realized the truth.

    أنارت المغربَ والمشرقا

    So He sent the lights forth to roam;

They illuminated the west and the east.

Then the body shone with His lights,

And revealed the secrets when it shone.

So praise be to God, who has granted protection

From the evil of what is feared or guarded against.
