يزهو به المسعودُ بين الناسِ

For the soul, wearing piety is the finest attire;

The garb of piety is the best garment for the soul;

the blessed one shines in it among the people.

The fortunate one glories in it among the people.

إنّ الشريفَ هو التقيّ المرتضى

إنّ الشريفَ هو التقيّ المرتضى

لا الهاشميّ ولا بنو العباسِ

لا الهاشميّ ولا بنو العباسِ

The truly noble is the pious, the approved—

Indeed, the noble one is the pious one, held in favor,

not the Hāshimite, nor the sons of al-ʿAbbās—

Not the Hashimite, nor the sons of al-Abbas,

إلا إذا اتَّقوا الإله فإنهم

إلا إذا اتَّقوا الإله فإنهم

أهلُ المكارمِ والندى والباس

أهلُ المكارمِ والندى والباس

unless they fear God; then indeed they are

people of noble deeds, generosity, and valor.
