صلىmay He bless عليهupon him اللهGod منwhat a سيِّدٍmaster
صلى عليه الله من سيِّدٍ
لولاهbut for him لمdid not نعلمwe know ولمand did not نهتدِwe find guidance
لولاه لم نعلم ولم نهتدِ
May God bless him—what a master!
Blessings of God be upon the Master
But for him, we would neither have known nor found guidance.
Without whom we would not have known guidance
قدindeed قرنَcoupled اللهGod بهwith him ذكرَهHis mention
قد قرنَ الله به ذكرَه
فيin كلِّevery يومday فاعتبرso take heed تَرشَدِyou will be rightly guided
في كلِّ يوم فاعتبر تَرشَدِ
God has indeed coupled His own mention with his,
God has joined his name with His own
Every day; so take heed, and you will be rightly guided.
In every day, so take heed and find guidance
عشرٌten خفيَّاتٌconcealed وعَشرand ten إذاwhen
عشرٌ خفيَّاتٌ وعَشر إذا
أُعلنَّthey are proclaimed بالتأذينِthrough the call to prayer فيin المسجدِthe mosque
أُعلنَّ بالتأذينِ في المسجدِ
Ten are concealed, and ten when
Ten hidden and ten when
They are proclaimed through the call to prayer in the mosque.
Called out in the mosque
فهذهso these عشرونtwenty مقرونةٌcoupled
فهذه عشرون مقرونةٌ
بأفضلwith the finest الذكرremembrance إلىuntil الموعدthe appointed time
بأفضل الذكر إلى الموعد
So these are twenty, coupled
These twenty joined
With the finest remembrance until the appointed time.
With the best remembrance until the promised time
