The gnostics' station, to one who sees them

through unveiling, is like the spider's house:

weak—they have no support but themselves.

Thus they derived 'houses' from 'overnight lodging.'

And but for night, they would know no giver of overnight lodging.

Take heed: likewise, 'the strong' is derived from every sustenance.

Here their Ḍurāḥ was named a house,

and no names of houses exist there,

just as houses are impossible for them

in any state, for want of stability.

And in their transformations lies the essence of houses,

through transformation in the scattered affair.

And the souls' sustenance is nothing but their powers,

and indeed, the essence is the essence of every sustenance.

And Sahl has no sustenance but Him.

And what has the Real to do with bread and fish?

All creation has lost its way among sustenances,

and none but the Sustainer sees Sahl.
