If the auspicious star aligns with its crescent moon,

If the auspicious star aligns with its crescent

existence stands on a single leg.

Existence would stand on one foot

فإن انتفى عينُ التواصُلِ منهما

فإن انتفى عينُ التواصُلِ منهما

نقص الوجودُ عن الوجودِ الراشد

نقص الوجودُ عن الوجودِ الراشد

But if the very bond between them is absent,

But if the eye of their connection were to disappear

existence falls short of rightly guided existence.

Existence would fall short of mature existence

فانظر بقلبك أين حظك منهما

فانظر بقلبك أين حظك منهما

في الرزقِ أو في العالم المتباعد

في الرزقِ أو في العالم المتباعد

So look with your heart: where does your share from the two lie—

So look in your heart where your fortune lies with them

in sustenance, or in the distant world?
