شغلي بمن شرَّع لي الش

شغلي بمن شرَّع لي الش

غل به فحيرا

غل به فحيرا

My preoccupation is with Him who ordained for me the pre-

My occupation is with He who spread out the occupation for me

occupation with Him, and so bewildered me.

So I became confused by it

خاطبني بأنني

خاطبني بأنني

عبدٌله وما نرى

عبدٌله وما نرى

He addressed me, saying that I

He addressed me saying that I am His servant

am His servant; and we see

And we do not see any witness for His eye except blindness and effects

لعينه من شاهد

لعينه من شاهد

إلا العمى والأثرا

إلا العمى والأثرا

no witness to His essence

And He said to me that what you see has appeared

except blindness and the trace.

Only because of You, O Lord of the world, otherwise I would only be like the world

وقال لي إن الذي

وقال لي إن الذي

تراه قد ظهرا

تراه قد ظهرا

And He told me: "Indeed, what

Like the one who said to us, recovering from sickness

you see has become manifest."

Our inheritance from Ahmed, the best of creation and the world

لولاك يا ربَّ الورى

لولاك يا ربَّ الورى

ما كنت إلا الورى

ما كنت إلا الورى

Were it not for You, O Lord of creation,

The best imam, pure, descendant of honored lineages

I would be nothing but creation.

May God send prayers upon him, from a caliph who has appeared

مثل الذي قال لنا

مثل الذي قال لنا

من صحة قد انبرى

من صحة قد انبرى

Like the one who spoke to us,

With all that his Lord hoped for him

having come forward on sound grounds.

That he took pride in

ميراثنا من أحمد

ميراثنا من أحمد

خير الأنام والورى

خير الأنام والورى

Our inheritance is from Ahmad,

Because he is a servant and it is not for the servant to take pride

the best of humankind and all creation,

Except in Him who created him as His servant, so he became famous

خير إمام طاهر

خير إمام طاهر

سليل أعراف الثرى

سليل أعراف الثرى

the finest imam, pure,

It is I who said "I" so we knew for certain

a scion of the earth's heights.

If I had said "I" referring to Him, we would have seen a lesson

صلى عليه الله من

صلى عليه الله من

خليفةٍ قد ظهرا

خليفةٍ قد ظهرا

May God bless him—a

So praise and increase thanking Him

vicegerent who has appeared

It will increase for you what you remembered

بكلِّ ما أمله

بكلِّ ما أمله

من ربه ما افتخرا

من ربه ما افتخرا

with all he hoped for

In the perfect Remembrance He told us

from his Lord; he did not boast,

That the thankful, if he thanks, will be thanked

لأنه عبدٌ وما

لأنه عبدٌ وما

للعبد ان يفتخرا

للعبد ان يفتخرا

because he is a servant, and it is not

for a servant to boast,

إلا بمن كوّنه

إلا بمن كوّنه

عبداً له فاشتهرا

عبداً له فاشتهرا

except in Him who fashioned him

as His servant; thus he became renowned.

أنا الذي قلتُ أنا

أنا الذي قلتُ أنا

لذا يقينا خبرا

لذا يقينا خبرا

I am the one who said, "I,"

thus stating it with certainty.

لو أنني قلت أنا

لو أنني قلت أنا

به رأينا عبرا

به رأينا عبرا

Had I said, "I am

through Him," we would have seen lessons.

فاحمد وزد في شكره

فاحمد وزد في شكره

يزدكمُ ما ذكرا

يزدكمُ ما ذكرا

So praise Him, and increase your thanks to Him;

He will grant you more of what He mentioned

في محكمِ الذكر لنا

في محكمِ الذكر لنا

لشاكر إن شكرا

لشاكر إن شكرا

to us in the clear text of the Remembrance,

for one who is grateful, if he gives thanks.
