If one day you describe the Real, qualify your description.

And never leave the description unqualified, if you are rightly guided.

Since you have let the descriptions loose and have not

Qualified them concerning Him, you are not rightly guided.

If you know well what you outwardly are,

You know that the secret is robed in the servant.

And if you do not know, and are not a seeker,

Nor an inquirer, then know that you are a transgressor.

If no benefit comes to your soul here,

Then, when you are scattered, you will be a greater loser on the morrow.

If you were called to account for every crime,

And died knowing divine oneness, that would suffice.

And you are not deserving of eternity in His fire,

And you are not held guilty, nor are you a corrupter.

Such are you with God, in the very essence of His knowledge:

In the right hand’s grasp, you go forth and transgress.

My proof of this is the bearer of the scrolls—so know, all of you.

And that is judgment itself, beyond witnessing.

And if you are foremost in every virtue,

You will win the truest seat when they come.
