لناظرِ مقلتي الزهر الأنيق
From the hidden recesses of the flowers’ eyes appears
The eyes of flowers appear from their hiding
To my eye’s pupil, the elegant bloom.
To my fascinated glance, the elegant flower

تراه بعد نومته يفيقُ
When the sun lends them aid in this,
When the sun helps reveal it
You see it awaken after its sleep.
You see it waking after its nap

فؤاد الطالبين له مشوق
They awoke for a matter wherein lies a secret;
It awoke for a secret matter
The seekers’ heart yearns for it.
That excites seekers' hearts

The madman seeks to attain it,
The madman hopes to attain it

When the accursed star shoots forth by day,
When an unlucky star shoots at daytime
Then that star has no blaze;
That star has no burning power

For the sun is stronger than it indeed
And bitter cold’s tears flow freely for it.
And the tear of the flower is free flowing

So they quench it, and a wind escapes it unharmed,
It extinguishes it and saves from it the breeze
And judges that it is drowned therein.
And rules that it is drowning in it

And that downward plunge is a witness for us,
And that swooping is our witness
To what I have said—upright and truthful.
To what I said, honest and true

حذار منيَةٌ ولها شهيق
I saw the wind take from it [unclear word],
I saw the wind take debris from it
For fear of death, while it gasps.
Beware a death with a shriek
