Gird yourself, for the people’s hallmark is earnest striving.

Nor is a saying, whatever it contains, to be split in two.

And bring the whole, for the whole is the demand of the One who

revealed it to you; so the command is earnest striving.

Whoever brings the text while seeking a summary

has indeed brought the text, but there is a shortcoming in it.

If you are intent on what pleases your own souls,

rather than God, then you are deluded by it.

Between justice and decisive judgment lies our Creator’s ruling

concerning us; and decisive judgment, rather than justice, has its measure.

Thus the texts of justice came to us, bearing news

from God of what holds glad tidings.
