أَتَينَ إِلى التَطوافِ مُعتَجِزاتِ
And young women jostled me as I touched the Stone;
Crowds jostled me as I received intimates,
They came for the circumambulation, wearing waist-wraps.
Who had come circling in distress.
حَسَرنَthey unveiled عَنِfrom أَنوارِlights الشُموسِthe suns وَقُلنَand they said ليto me

They unveiled the radiance of the suns and said to me:
They unveiled the sun's splendor and said to me,
Beware, for the soul's death lies in glances.
"Exercise restraint, for the soul dies in an instant."

And how many have we slain at al-Muhassab in Mina—
And how many resolute souls have we killed
Unyielding souls beside the Jamarat,
With pebbles, beside the stoning pillars?

And at the valley's spreading tree and the landmarks of Rama,
In the valley's expanse, the banners of Mina,
And at Jamʿ, and at the departure from Arafat!
The throngs at Arafat, and where pilgrims gather,

Did you not know that beauty robs whoever has
Do you not know beauty robs those endowed
Chastity, and is thus called the thief of good deeds?
With chastity, who are called pilferers of virtues?

So our rendezvous is after the circumambulation at Zamzam,
So our appointment, after circling Zamzam,
Beside the central dome, beside the rocks.
Is by the central dome, by the rocks,
هُناكَthere مَنwhoever قَدindeed شَفَّهُhas wasted him الوَجدُlonging يَشتَفيhe finds healing

There, whoever has been wasted by longing finds healing
Where, maddened by fervor, some slake their thirst
With what he desires from fragrant women.
With whatever scented women they desire.

When night falls, they let down their hair, which, from

Its braids, plunges into darkness' robes.
