بِكُلِّwith every رُدَينِيِّRudayni spear القَوامِthe shaft مُثَقَّفِwell-straightened
With your statures, if you both wish, joust
With your statures, if you wish, we would obey
against every Rudayni spear with a well-straightened shaft.
With every supple spear, made elegant,
وَإِنand if شِئتُماyou both wish بِالنُبلِwith arrows أَنto تَتَناضَلاvie in archery, both of you

And if you both wish to vie in shooting arrows,
And if you wish with nobility to vie
then let fly a volley from each long-lashed eye.
Before you in the east, all are lesser kin
وَلاand do not تُثقِلاweigh down, both of you خَصرَيكُماyour two waists بِمُهَنَّدٍwith an Indian sword

And do not burden your two waists with an Indian sword,
Do not weigh down your loins with sharpened swords
for each of your eyelids holds the edge of a finely honed blade.
For in each eyelid of yours, a sharpened edge exists
