إِذا لَقيتَ الأَعادي يَومَ مَعرَكَةٍ

إِذا لَقيتَ الأَعادي يَومَ مَعرَكَةٍ

فَإِنَّ جَمعَهُم المَغرورَ مُنتَهبُ

فَإِنَّ جَمعَهُم المَغرورَ مُنتَهبُ

When you meet the enemies on the day of battle,

When you meet your enemies on the battlefield

Then their deluded host will surely be plundered.

Know that the arrogant one has brought plunder

لَكَ النُفوسُ وَلِلطَيرِ اللَحومُ وَلِلـ

لَكَ النُفوسُ وَلِلطَيرِ اللَحومُ وَلِلـ

ـوَحشِ العِظامُ وَلِلخَيّالَةِ السَلَبُ

ـوَحشِ العِظامُ وَلِلخَيّالَةِ السَلَبُ

Yours are the lives, the flesh is for the birds, and for the—

For you are the souls and for the birds the flesh

—wild beasts, the bones; and for the horsemen, the spoils.

For the beasts the bones and for the brave the spoils
