ما اِسمٌ رُباعِيُّ الحُروفِ وَإِنَّما
بِاثنَينِwith two يُكتَبُis written وَالصَحيحُand the non-weak letter فَواحِدُis thus one
بِاثنَينِ يُكتَبُ وَالصَحيحُ فَواحِدُ
What is a four-letter name, yet
What is the four-letter name though written with two
written with only two, with just one non-weak letter?
And the correct one is just a single letter?
فَإِذاso when دَعَوتُI pray لَهُfor him فَلَستُso I am not أَزيدُهُI add to him
فَإِذا دَعَوتُ لَهُ فَلَستُ أَزيدُهُ
فَإِنِso if اِستُجيبَis answered دُعايَmy prayer فَهوَthen he is الخالِدُthe immortal one
فَإِنِ اِستُجيبَ دُعايَ فَهوَ الخالِدُ
For when I pray for him, I add nothing to him;
When I call upon it, I do not increase it
and if my prayer is answered, he is immortal.
And if my supplication is answered, it is Eternal
وَلَوand if انَّهُthat it ليfor me فيin المَنامِthe dream مُصَحَّفٌwith its letter-dots altered
وَلَو انَّهُ لي في المَنامِ مُصَحَّفٌ
لَوَدِدتُthen I would wish أَنّيthat I طولَthroughout دَهريmy lifetime راقِدُasleep
لَوَدِدتُ أَنّي طولَ دَهري راقِدُ
And were it mine in a dream, with its dots altered,
If it appears jumbled in a dream,
I would wish to remain asleep throughout my life.
I wish I could sleep all my life
وَتَراهُand you see it إِنif صَحَّفتَهُyou alter its dots وَعَكَستَهُand you reverse it
وَتَراهُ إِن صَحَّفتَهُ وَعَكَستَهُ
يُنجيsaves فَبَيّنهُso explain it فَإِنَّكَfor you are ناقِدُa discerning critic
يُنجي فَبَيّنهُ فَإِنَّكَ ناقِدُ
And if you alter its dots and reverse it, you will see it
You will find if you jumble and reverse it
save; so explain it, for you are a discerning critic.
It brings salvation, so clarify it as you are the critic
