أَفديكَI would ransom you مِنas a مَولىًlord تَمَلَّكَwon خِلَّتيmy affection
بِخَلائِقٍthrough virtues غُرٍّradiant فَأَسجَحَand so dealt gently إِذwhen مَلَكgained mastery
I would give my life for you, a lord who won my affection
I ransom you from a Master who possessed my affection
Through radiant virtues, and dealt gently once he held sway.
With alien morals, so he became tyrannical when he ruled
لَولاwere it not for الَّذيthat which يَبدوappears لَناto us مِنof هَيئَةٍoutward form
وَخَلائِقٍand qualities بَشَرِيَّةٍhuman قُلناwe would have said مَلَكan angel
Were it not for the outward form we see
Were it not for what appears to us of his demeanor
And human qualities, we would have said, "An angel!"
And human traits, we would say he is an angel
ماnot أَخفَقَcame away empty-handed المُزجيthe one urging onward إِلَيكَtoward you رِكابَهُhis riding camels
حَتّىin order to يَراكَsee you وَلَمand did not يَخِبbe disappointed مَنwhoever أَمَّلَكplaced his hopes in you
No one urging his riding camels toward you has gone empty-handed
The yearner did not rein his steed toward you
In coming to see you; nor has anyone who hoped in you been disappointed.
Until he sees you, and he who hoped was not disappointed
ماwhatever تَحتَويهِhold it يَداكَyour two hands مِنof مالٍwealth لَناis ours

Whatever wealth your two hands hold is ours,
What your hands possess of wealth belongs to us
And all the praise we offer is yours.
And all the praise we bring is yours

You delight in the hopeful supplicant to the utmost,
You rest at ease toward the farthest extent
So generously that what he owns seems small to him.
Of generosity, so what he owns seems paltry to him
وَكَأَنَّهاand as though it لَمdid not تَرضَbe content with ماwhat فيin الأَرضِthe earth مِنof

And as though it were not content with the earth's
As if the breadth of the land did not please her
Goods for its supplicant, it brought the celestial sphere.
Regarding her suitor, so she came with the celestial sphere

Yours is a station in lofty honor beyond mankind's reach;
You have in the high places a dwelling the creation cannot reach
Neither commoner nor king can rise to it.
No climber can ascend to it, nor any angel
