أَبلِغconvey رِسالَتِيَmy message الصَفِيَّal-Safi وَقُلand say لَهُto him
كَيفَhow اِستَحالَchanged صَفاؤُهُhis sincerity وَتَكَدَّراand grew clouded
Convey my message to al-Safi, and say to him:
Convey my message to Al-Safiy, and say to him:
How has his sincerity changed and grown clouded?
How his purity has changed and become turbid!
ياO مُعرِضاًone who turns away ماnot وُدُّهُhis love وَصَفاؤُهُand his sincerity
لِوَلِيِّهِtoward his friend مِمّاamong what يُباعُis sold وَيُشتَرىand is bought
O aloof one, whose love and sincerity
O you who have turned away, his love and purity
toward his friend are not things sold and bought,
Are not for sale to his patron from that which is bought and sold.
كَيفَhow اِشتَغَلتَyou became occupied بِخادِمٍwith a servant عَنaway from خادِمٍa servant
ماnot جَرَّcommitted جُرماًan offense فيin هَواكَlove for you وَلاand not اِفتَرىfabricated lies
How have you become absorbed in one servant, neglecting another,
How you have busied yourself with one servant over another
who committed no offense in loving you, nor fabricated lies?
Who has committed no sin against your love nor lied.
وَمَتىand when الخَلاصُdeliverance وَقَدand already وَرَدتَyou have reached مَوارِداًwatering places
هَيهاتَfar-fetched عَنaway from بُجرانِهاtheir anuses أَنthat تَصدراyou should withdraw
And when will deliverance come, now that you have reached watering places
And when will there be deliverance, when you have arrived at springs
from whose anuses it is all but impossible for you to withdraw?
From which it is impossible for you to flow forth?
لَوif كانَhe were عِرسَكَyour wife لَاِنتَظَرتُI would await طَلاقَهاher divorce
أَوor أَمرَداًa beardless youth لَرَجَوتُI would hope أَنthat يَتَعَذَّراhe would grow facial hair
If he were your wife, I would await her divorce;
If your wedding were to happen, I would wait for her divorce,
or a beardless youth, I would hope he would grow facial hair.
Or if it were postponed, I would hope it would be cancelled.
