وَنِعمَةٍ جاءَت إِلى سِفلةٍ

وَنِعمَةٍ جاءَت إِلى سِفلةٍ

أَبطَرَهُ الإِثراءُ لَمّا ثَرا

And a boon came to a vile fellow;

A blessing came to a low man,

Wealth made him insolent when he grew rich.

Wealth made him arrogant when he became rich.

فَالناسُ مِن بغضٍ لَهُ كُلَّما

فَالناسُ مِن بغضٍ لَهُ كُلَّما

مَرَّ عَلَيهِم لَعَنوا شاوَرا

مَرَّ عَلَيهِم لَعَنوا شاوَرا

So the people, out of hatred for him, whenever

So people hated him more and more,

he passed by them, cursed Shawar.

Whenever he passed by them, they cursed him.

تَبّاً لِمِصرٍ وَلَها دَولَةً

تَبّاً لِمِصرٍ وَلَها دَولَةً

ما رَفَعَت في الناسِ إِلّا حراً

ما رَفَعَت في الناسِ إِلّا حراً

Damn Egypt and its government:

Damn the fate of Egypt and its injustice,

it has raised none among the people but a cunt.

It only raised among the people the wicked.
