Our beloved ones, this estrangement has no end.

By your honor, my patience has dwindled and my endurance is spent.

Is my share of union with you a rooster's egg?

Do not do so, and make it an everlasting invitation.

So the reproachful women get from me the share his followers get,

on the day of the banquet: he pays heed to no one.

I remember him stemming with his right hand

the torrent of tears, his other hand upon his liver.

He says to the bread, 'May you never be out of reach, nor

may he who destroyed Lubad destroy you.'
