إِنَّindeed اِبنَson of عُروَةَʿUrwa حينَwhen سَوَّدَhe blackened بِالزِناwith fornication
إِنَّ اِبنَ عُروَةَ حينَ سَوَّدَ بِالزِنا
وَجهَيboth sides صَحيفَتِهِof his record وَبَيَّضَand he whitened مَسجِداa mosque
وَجهَي صَحيفَتِهِ وَبَيَّضَ مَسجِدا
Indeed, Ibn ʿUrwa, when he blackened with fornication
both sides of his record and whitened a mosque,
كَمُقامِرٍlike a gambler أَدّىhe paid الزَكاةَthe obligatory alms مُرائِياًshowing off
كَمُقامِرٍ أَدّى الزَكاةَ مُرائِياً
لِلنّاسِfor people لاnot يَرجوhe hopes for مَثوبَتَهاits reward غَداtomorrow
لِلنّاسِ لا يَرجو مَثوبَتَها غَدا
was like a gambler who paid zakat to show off
before people, not hoping for its reward tomorrow.
