وَماand what حَيوانٌanimal يَتَّقيguard against الناسُpeople شَرَّهُits harm
وَما حَيوانٌ يَتَّقي الناسُ شَرَّهُ
عَلىdespite أَنَّهُthat it is واهيfeeble القُوىstrength واهِنُweak البَطشِstriking power
عَلى أَنَّهُ واهي القُوى واهِنُ البَطشِ
And what animal is it whose harm people guard against,
No beast that people fear its harm
although it is feeble in strength and weak in attack?
Though it be weak in power and force
إِذاif ضَعَّفواthey double نِصفَhalf اِسمِهِits name صارَit becomes طائِراًa bird
إِذا ضَعَّفوا نِصفَ اِسمِهِ صارَ طائِراً
وَإِنand if ضَعَّفواthey double باقيهِthe rest of it صارَit becomes مِنَamong الوَحشِwild beasts
وَإِن ضَعَّفوا باقيهِ صارَ مِنَ الوَحشِ
If they double half its name, it becomes a bird;
If you halve its name it becomes a bird
and if they double the rest of it, it becomes one of the wild beasts.
And if you halve what's left it's a wild beast
