رَأَيتُI saw سُلَيمانَSulayman الدَعِيَّthe bastard مُعَرَّضاًexposed
رَأَيتُ سُلَيمانَ الدَعِيَّ مُعَرَّضاً
لِرَفعِto the raising of أَكُفٍّpalms ماnot لَهاfor them عَنهُfrom him مِنany كَفِّrestraint
لِرَفعِ أَكُفٍّ ما لَها عَنهُ مِن كَفِّ
I saw Sulayman, the bastard, exposed
I saw Sulayman al-Da'i exposed
to raised palms that never hold back from him.
To the raising of palms not averted from him.
فَماand no راحَةٌpalm إِلّاexcept لَهاfor it فيهِin him راحَةٌcomfort
فَما راحَةٌ إِلّا لَها فيهِ راحَةٌ
كَأَنَّas though قَفاهُhis nape مَشهَدُshrine الكَفِّthe palm لِلكَفِّfor the palm
كَأَنَّ قَفاهُ مَشهَدُ الكَفِّ لِلكَفِّ
And no palm fails to find comfort in him,
So no palm has rest but in him is its rest,
as though his nape were the palm’s shrine for every palm.
As if his nape were the scene of palm meeting palm.
